Introducing AHR™ With SICT™

In a side impact crash, the chance of surviving depends on how much impact force can be reduced before it reaches the occupant. While modern vehicles use crumple zones and airbags to minimise injury in frontal crashes, there is far less space available to absorb crash forces during a side impact collision. This makes side impact protection one of the most critical aspects of child car seat safety.

In response, Britax Safe-n-Sound developed Active Head Restraint (AHR™) with Side Impact Cushion Technology (SICT™) - two advanced safety systems designed to work together to contain the head and minimise impact forces delivered to a child during a crash.

How Does SICT™ Work?

Side Impact Cushion Technology (SICT™) – Head Protection

Britax’s SICT™ head protection uses a dual-layer design that helps reduce the energy generated in a side impact crash.

• The inner SICT layer provides 180° protection around your child’s head, helping keep them safely contained.
• The outer SICT layer, located on the exterior of the car seat, absorbs and disperses immediate crash energy before it reaches your child.

This combination delivers one of the most effective side impact protection systems available in a child restraint.

Side Impact Cushion Technology (SICT™) – Torso Protection

Torso SICT™ helps minimise the crash forces delivered to your child’s chest and vital organs. By absorbing and distributing energy over a longer period of time, it reduces the severity of impact forces to safer levels. This additional layer of torso protection supports full-body safety during side impact collisions.

Active Head Restraint (AHR)™

The Active Head Restraint (AHR™) is designed with deeper side wings that help shield, contain, and support your child’s head during a side impact crash. AHR grows with your child, adjusting as they develop, and works in harmony with SICT™ to minimise impact forces and maintain correct head positioning.
