AHR Side Impact Cushion Technology is designed to improve the chance of surviving a crash, the forces on an occupant need to be minimised. Modern vehicle manufacturers have worked hard to minimise occupant injury by introducing crumple zones and airbags which reduce the impact force exerted on the occupant. In a frontal crash the car has substantial amount of crumple zone distance but in a side impact crash there is minimal distance to absorb the crash energy.
In response to this, Safe-n-Sound introduces the Active Head Restraint (AHR) with Side Impact Cushion Technology (SICT).
These two features are designed to work together to contain the head and to minimise impact forces that may be delivered to the child's head.

Side Impact Cushion Technology is designed to minimise the crash energy generated in a side impact crash, diverting crash forces away from your child, whilst the deep side wings also reduce the chance of your child's head striking part of the car interior.
In a side crash, the cushion compresses, dispelling air at a controlled rate, this results in the cushion absorbing the crash energy protecting your child's head. Combined with an AHR Tilt & Adjust headrest both cushions and contains your child's head during the crash.
The close fitting, deep side walls shield your child's head from vehicle intrusion, minimise side to side head roll and keep the head and neck aligned to limit potential injury.
Side Impact Cushion Technology is specifically designed to protect where your child is most vulnerable.
SICT minimises the energy generated in a side impact crash.

This graph test* shows comparisons between a child car seat with AHR Air Cushion with SICT installed and a competitor's seat. The graph illustrates how the head accelerations for the AHR Air Cushion with SICT are lower and dispersed over a longer period of time. Whereas other convertible child seats experience a short, sharp acceleration which causes a higher force upon your child's brain.
Side Impact Cushion Technology minimises the energy, reducing crash forces to a safer level. If the acceleration level is too high, then there is potential for serious head injury.
